Add Tape Server on Linux server

You can with Veeam Backup & Replication v12, install Tape Server on Linux server. From the Veeam Backup & Replication console, open Tape Infrastructure, click on Tape Infrastructure then on Add Tape Server.

A new wizard appear, click on Add New to add new server. If the server has previously configured you can select directly in the drop-down list.

Select the operating system of the server. I choose to use Linux server for the Tape server.

Enter the FQDN of the Tape server then click on Next.

Credential must be configured. Click on Add then select Linux account.

Enter Username and Password of the Linux account. Check Elevate account privileges automatically and Use “su” if “sudo” fails. Enter the root password then click on OK.

Installer component and Transport component will be installed. Click on pply to begin install.

Verify that all operation has been done then click on Next then on Finish.

Click on Apply to add Tape server.

Restore File

With Veeam v12, it is now possible to compare the elements present in the backup with the production. From the Veeam console, open Home tab then select the desired job.

Select the desired VM then click on Guest File in the ribbon. Click on Microsoft Windows.

Select the restore point then click on Next.

You can enter a reason if you want and click on Next.

Click on Browse to open Backup Browser.

Select the desired folder then click on Compare with Production in the ribbon.

It is possible to know if there is a difference between the backup and the production

When restoring a file, it is now possible to restore permissions only. The Compare with production option must be disabled.
